Ketteringham Club TT – Cancelled

The Tour Series is coming to Norfolk (Aylsham) on 13th June (Hoorah!).
But this means some of the key club officials have been “called up to serve”. If our short FB survey is anything to go by we will also be short of the competitors we need to make a successful club TT at Ketteringham on the same night. We have therefore decided reluctantly to cancel the event, and despite a desire to reschedule, this is not an option with an already bulging EDCA calendar. (Boo!)
Sorry folks, but it’s not long before VCN’s next club TT date at Horsford.

NMG Sportive Trophy – time to stake your May claims

There’s a whole bunch of people with at least 170 miles to claim so far in May, what with the Cycle Swarm and the Boadicca. And … where are the women? OK so there’s little more than pride at stake if you don’t come top but still …

So, mileage claims to me, Bob Carter, at newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk if you’ve ridden an organised, measured, non-competitive event in your club kit. And if you’ve been accumulating miles but haven’t put yourself on the table now’s the time to put in a claim. Can’t wait to see how it all changes once all those claims are in.

And you get no extra for being clipped by a car driven by a clueless Tweeter!Screen shot 2013-05-23 at 19.12.15

VCN Club “10” – Morley -16th May

First the good news… A blustery evening and cold weather (again) didn’t deter an excellent turn out for our first club “10”, 24 VCN riders welcomed 8 guests for a field of 32, including some novices and a very good showing from the women.  A huge thank you to all our volunteers who turned up to marshal, time keep and provide teas and cakes to everyone. Also a big thank you to all the competitors for excellent conduct out on the road, and some very good times considering the conditions.

Now the not so good news… Please keep an eye on the website as we may have to change our plans for the next club “10” which now clashes with the Tour Series in Aylsham.

NMG Sportive Challenge for April

sportive challengeIt’s getting interesting. We still don’t know what Jonathan has up his sleeve after a storming March put him well ahead of the field. And for the moment I’m up to second … so if you’ve got miles from Sportives, RRs, Audices then let me know at newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk by the 31st. New entries always welcome, send me your miles and events for the year so far and join in the fun. It’s important to remember you can only claim if you wore your club kit on the ride, this is all about getting our club and sponsors visible at events. So stake your claim …

Put the Roll(er)s away Parker …

The Rollerdrome racing this Thursday night has been cancelled.
Our club event was to be part of a series aimed to create an inter-club roller racing championship for the first time in over 20 years – but not enough clubs signed up this time.

Roll up, roll up … it’s Rollerdrome time

It’s all about the arrows!

Remember the Rollerdrome at the ToB finish at the showground last summer?

Well now’s your chance to have a go … and they’re setting it up just for us so please come along and support if you can.

Our good friends Kevin and Neil at Activating CiC are putting on a VC Norwich dedicated evening of rollerdrome racing at the Fat Cat and Canary pub on the 25th April, starting at 7pm. Come along for an evening of good company, music, a few drinks and some friendly(?) competition.

If Thursday is normally your training night come and drink fruit juice and do some serious spinning.

If Thursday is normally your rest night come and drink beer … and do some serious spinning.

Whatever night it is for you normally, this night is a night to spend with your club mates and have some fun. There’s no entry fee, so you have no excuses!
Whether you can spin at 150rpm or not, put the 25th in your diary and make sure you come along.

Here’s a picture of some women showing how it’s done:

And if you don’t remember Rollerdrome, here’s what it’s all about:
