CLUB Curry Night. Tuesday 14th May.
WHERE Spice of India, Horsford.
WHEN 7:30pm Tuesday 14th May 2013
Matt Gates is in the process of organising an evening for club members and partners to get together mid week. Hopefully the cold weather will have abated by then and you’ll be able to wear spring apparel to tuck into mouth watering Indian cuisine. We are looking to seat 30+ to make it a viable event, cost will depend on numbers.
Come along, and meet your fellow VCNers in a non-riding/cake stop social environment.
If you are interested, please make contact through the VCN Facebook site or by emailing Matt direct at mjg1164@gmail.com
Smart moves

Well done to Mark and Jen Smart for their all-conquering race day at the Norwich Cycling Academy Spring Racing League Championship.
They go into round 3 and 4 in a month’s time after winning both rounds on a day when most of us parted the curtains and thought: ‘sod that,’ as the wind blew rain and snow around the county.
The presentations were made by VC Norwich honorary member Vicky Williamson who brought along her shiny new bronze medal from the world championships.
Mark thought the words they’d never hear in their household would be: “Have you finished shaving your legs as I need to do mine?”
How about: “Is this your yellow jersey or is it mine?”
Spinning In The Rain

Congratulations to the brave VCNers who turned out for the first of the Elveden Race Series in the bucketing rain on Saturday morning.
Sadly a big crash in the bunch sprint accounted for some of the club’s best hopes, leaving Simon Lomax sporting a shiner and Owen Marsden recovering in the ambulance.
Mark Smart obviously treated the day as a warm-up for the Norwich Cycling Academy races the next day and among the 3rd Cat riders VCN’s Dale Johnston came in sixth with the winner being our former racer Dieter Rowe riding for Strada Sport.
In the women’s race the VCN trio of of Lou Marsden, Jen Smart and Erica Howe were well up at the finish.
VC Norwich March 2013 Newsletter
NMG Sportive Trophy league table
The March newsletter comes out soon – so it’s time to stake your claims for the NMG Sportive Trophy. A quick reminder – it’s for miles logged on organised, measured distance, non-competitive events and the eventual winner will get the NMG Sportive Trophy for 2013.
Each month’s newsletter will include a league table. So each time you take part in such an event, just email a note of it to me, newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk and you’ll be able to compare your mileage against everyone else’s.
So unless more claims are logged in the next three or four days … look who’s top:

Vicky bags a bronze

Congratulations to our honorary member Vicky Williamson on her bronze in the UCI Track Worlds in Minsk. Drafted into the team late her performance was far ahead what she’d expected herself. Proud doesn’t say enough …

VC Norwich’s second (in reality the first, courtesy of the snow last month) reliability ride is coming up next weekend – 17th Feb. Lets hope the weather is kinder this time and we can enjoy a bracing ride into the North Norfolk countryside..
For an entry fee of £3.00 riders will set out from the Horsford Church Rooms on a choice of two routes. Those choosing to ride 60 miles can leave at 8.30, 9.00 or 9.30am with the 30 milers setting out at 10.00 or 10.30am.
Full details and gps files can be found on our calendar page here.
All welcome, and for those VCN members, don’t forget that there will be no club ride on the day!
