NMG Sportive Trophy
As the first half of the annual race comes in sight, the top three from last month are still yet to play their cards so there’s been a bit of movement in the table with Michael Meadows leaping up into third spot.
The judges are quite happy to take mileage claims for the first six months of 2014 so if you want to see where you rank, send them off to newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk for inclusion.
A quick reminder of the rules: events must be organised, paid for and a measured course, but not competitive. Club kit must have been worn. That’s pretty much it. We make the rest up as we go along.

NMG Sportive Trophy

Lots of sportive miles ridden in May – but still waiting for many claims. David Linsdell has joined the hunt for honours and goes straight in at sixth. Carl Pentney goes up two places and is competing for podium finish. But what did you do? Email newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk
And anything else for the June newsletter – drop me a line, I’m keen to share your experiences with the rest of the club.
VCN Club 10 Results
On a perfect Spring evening, 26 riders (where was everyone else?) took the opportunity to participate in our first Club 10 of 2014 at Besthorpe. Congratulations to Andrew Bean of Wisbech Wheelers (studying at UEA) who won with an amazing 21.53.
Thank you to all the riders who supported this event and, as always, to the many members of VC Norwich who once again gave up their time to promote the TT. (Sean Quarmby, Sally Withey, Ian Doe, Sophie Doe, Matt Gates, Clive Rayner, Nick Kidd, Alan Bond, Desmond Matthews, Christine Stronge, George Stronge, Will Bamber.)

VCN Open 25 TT – 4th May – Results
Congratulations to Matthew Smith of Team Velovelocity who won the event and beat Ian Cammish’s winning time from 2013. There were a total of 21 improvements to LTS times as well as 3 riders who had never ridden a 25 before which meant a lot of happy faces afterwards. The tandem pairing of Glenn Taylor and Mark Arnold put in a phenomenal performance to stop the clock in 46:58 – just shy of 32 mph average.
Thank you to everyone for supporting the event and for riding safely. Thank you also to the timekeepers and members of VC Norwich, without whom the event would not have run smoothly.
We hope to see everyone again later in 2014 at the VC Norwich August Bank Holiday 10 and don’t forget our other club TT’s as detailed on our Calendar page here on the website.

NMG Sportive Trophy
Jonathan Greenway is riding away the title with less than half the year gone already. David Whitehead’s sticking in second with Carl Loveday in third despite no miles claimed (yet) but Carl Pentney’s moved up two places with his Old Squit efforts. Bob Carter (that’s me) lifts himself as, apparently, the only VCN participant in the Strumpy Dash. Plus I’ve awarded myself 74 miles for that event having ridden a much better, but longer, route than the organisers had prepared. I may take that back …
Last minute mileage claims to me newseditor@vcnorwich.co.uk please.
